Update 2025 – 26: Our spaces for PUF students are full. Registration for 2026 – 27 kindergarten spaces will be accepted starting October 15, 2026.

Special Needs/Program Unit Funded (PUF) Students:

We value diversity in our classroom and we have a long history of welcoming students with a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. Within that context, our governing body, the Dalhousie Community Kindergarten Society, has allocated two Kindergarten registrations (per class) specifically for students that receive Program Unit Funding (PUF) and would be attending our class with an aide.

Process:

On October 15 of the prior school year, we will start to accept applications for registration for PUF children. Please submit our online registration form on or after the opening date. Please be sure to include information about your child’s current support needs, their current support agency and the program they are currently attending.

**If more than two applications are received between October 15 and the second Tuesday of December, all applications received (to midnight of the second Tuesday of December) will be entered into a lottery to assign sequence for consideration.

**Applications for registration for PUF students received after the December draw deadline will be assigned a placement for consideration based upon the sequence in which they are received.

It is important that both you, as parents, and our program agree that our program will be a good fit for your child. The first two PUF applications will be assessed by the Kindergarten Teacher to ensure program fit and may include a visit to your child’s current program.  Parents will be advised of their child’s full acceptance into the program in a timely manner.  All other subsequent registrations will be wait-listed in priority order to be considered if a special needs spot should become available.

When we offer you a space in the program, you will have 48 hours to accept the spot and pay your $225 fee. This is a non-refundable fee.
