Update for 2025 – 26: Both our morning and afternoon classes are full for the upcoming school year, however we still encourage parents to register on our wait list in case spaces become available.
Children who will be 5 years old by Dec 31 (kindergarten-aged) in both the morning and afternoon classes will have access to the on-site out of school care program (7am to 6pm), subject to available childcare spaces. Class times are 8:30 to 11:30 and 12:30 to 3:30, Monday to Friday.
Our PUF* spots for 2025 – 26 are currently full with a wait list. Registration for 2026 – 27 Kindergarten PUF spaces will begin on October 15, 2025 (see below). (*Program Unit Funding, or children with “severe” codes who will attend our class with the support of an aide.)
Age Requirements:
Children are considered kindergarten-aged for September 2025 enrolment if they turn 5 years old on or before Dec. 31, 2025.
Children who will be turning 5 between September 1 and December 31 have the choice of taking their funded kindergarten year in the year they turn 5 or the year they turn 6. If this applies to your child you may opt to take a tuition based kindergarten year with our program either before or after a year funded by Alberta Education, and children can take one or both of these years with our program.
Children who will be 6 years old on September 1 are generally required to begin grade one.
Junior kindergarten students must be at least 4 years old by September 2025.
Registration Dates for the 2026 – 27 School Year:
Open Houses are tentatively scheduled for both November 5 , 2025 and January 14, 2026 from 6pm to 7pm in our classroom at the Dalhousie Community Centre (5432 Dalhart Rd NW). These are drop-in events.
Registration requests for kindergarten-aged children, including PUF* students, will be accepted starting on October 15, 2025. (*Program Unit Funding, or children who with “severe” codes that will attend our class with the support of an aide.)
PUF registrations are processed separately from the other registration requests. Please see our PUF registrations tab here for more information about our process for these spaces. A draw for PUF spaces will be held on any PUF registration requests received between October 15 and December 9, 2025. PUF registration requests will continue to be accepted after December 9, 2025 and will be assigned to a waitlist for PUF spaces as they are received.
Nine priority registration spaces will be assigned for kindergarten-aged children of alumni families, or those currently attending the Dalhousie Community Preschool until midnight January 21, 2026. A further nine spaces will be assigned for the general public. A wait list will be kept if there are more requests received than spaces available for either category.
On January 22 the any available priority registration spaces (for alumni or community preschool children) will be released to wait listed families and ongoing registrations.
On January 22, 2026 we will begin accepting Junior Kindergarten registration requests.
We will continue to accept registration requests to assess demand for the addition of an afternoon class. The decision to add and afternoon class will be made by February 15 2026.
New Parent orientation for 2025 – 26 school year is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Thursday May 8, 2025.
New Student orientation (where new students come to class for one hour) is tentatively scheduled for Monday May 26, 2025.
Program Fees are due when you are accept a space in our program.
